Toyota Prado 90 series water pump changed

The bearing has corroded after 22 years of service. Time for a new one.

Mr Ghazali recently had his Toyota Prado 90 series water pump changed. For a 22-year-old Prado, it is timely that the water pump gets replaced. Mr Ghazali kept needing to top up water for his radiator. The mechanic narrowed it down to the failed bearing in the water pump. Below are some details shared by Mr Ghazali on this part replacement.

Good news is that the Prado’s water pump is exactly the same one used on the Toyota Innova 2.7 which is plentiful in Malaysia and Indonesia (especially the later). Mr Ghazali got hold of a new OEM unit at RM150. That is a really good price!

Together with the water-pump, 3 belts get changed as well.

Mr Ghazali is located in the state of Kelantan. He acquired the help of his company’s mechanic to change the water pump and 3 belts of his Toyota Prado 90 series. As such, the total cost for the hardware is around RM270 (pump and three belts) while the workmanship is undisclosed (obviously it won't cost too much). A quick search on Lazada today confirms that the water pump really is common for the two models of Toyota.

The Prado water pump being sold on Lazada (OEM) is common to the Toyota Innova 2.7
